Pottery Wheel Course (6 weeks)

Beginners & Follow-up ALMOST PRIVATE

  • Started 7 May
  • 420 euro
  • DewEra Ceramics Studio

Service Description

For 6 weeks on Tuesdays, you will be joining a class of four and learn the basics of throwing on pottery wheel and decoration techniques. This class consists of maximum four members, two members will work on their hand-building skills and the other two will work on their wheel throwing skills. This is a special course since I will be working with only four people to improve their skills based on their own levels and interests, like a one-on-one session, while you can also spend time alone with your ceramic pieces for repetitive parts. Each session is 2 hours 30 minutes and final 15-20 minutes are dedicated to clean-up. This section is to book for one of the two spots for pottery wheel. If there is no more attendee than 2 people the session will last 2 hours plus 15 minutes cleaning. What you can learn and experience? You will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare your clay, throw objects on the pottery wheel, how to refine them and many decoration techniques including glazing. This course is mainly for beginners but if you have already had a beginners course or practiced and it is not your first time on the wheel you are also welcome. Since it is almost like a private session, we can discuss the aspects you would like to improve or I can also offer you a programme. Imagine that you are spending your Wednesday evenings with ceramics where you are also being guided on techniques that can be tried and learn how to use the necessary tools, how to decorate and enhance the characteristics of your unique pieces. If you have zero experience on the wheel you will learn: how to wedge clay, how to centre the clay on the wheel, how to throw a small cylinder and a small bowl and maybe a lidded jar and how to trim them, decorate them depending on your own pace. Please keep in mind that these are the skills that takes months to get comfortable with, so please be realistic. I will always help you to get decent pieces. If it is not your first time on the wheel we can create a programme for you. For example if you know how to throw a small cylinder or bowl, we can start working on bottles and then closed forms and then teapots. What is included in the price in addition to the course? Clay, glazes, bisque and glaze firings are included.
